MONEY MATTERS:
We recommend bringing 50% in traveler’s checks and 50% in cash. Credit cards are accepted in most stores, restaurants and hotels. VISA is the preferred card, although American Express and MasterCard are being accepted at more and more establishments.
CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES:
Other than the study materials as stated earlier, we recommend that you bring a hat, swimwear, tennis shoes or sandals, sunscreen, insect repellent, light jacket, short pants, and film. While Guanacaste is usually warm other regions in Costa Rica can be chilly, especially at night.
IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS:
Persons holding U.S. passports can stay for a maximum of 90 days without special permission. For students staying longer we can help you extend your stay.
HEALTH CARE:
Costa Rica has one of the finest medical systems in the world. If needed we can recommend a bilingual doctor. There is a major full service hospital in Nicoya. The water is safe to drink. Simply use the same precautions as you do at home. |
